Delete your Gentle Steps account and data

Gentle Steps · Last updated: 4 October 2026

This page explains how to have your Gentle Steps account and everything stored with it permanently deleted.

How to request deletion
  1. Email gentlestepsapp@gmail.com from the email address you use to sign in to Gentle Steps.
  2. Put Delete my account in the subject line.
  3. You will get a reply confirming the request, and your account and data will be erased within 30 days.

Sending the request from your sign-in address is how we confirm it is really you. No other information is needed.

What is deleted

DataWhat happens
Your account and email addressDeleted permanently
The goals you typedDeleted permanently
Your tasks — titles, dates, times, repeatsDeleted permanently
Your completion historyDeleted permanently
Your monthly usage countDeleted permanently
Your subscription record — plan and expiry dateDeleted permanently

Everything Gentle Steps holds about you is deleted. Nothing Gentle Steps holds is kept for marketing, analytics or profiling. The one thing outside its hands is Google's advertising: to show and count the short adverts that pay for free use, Google receives your advertising ID and IP address, and holds those under Google's own privacy policy, not ours. You can reset your advertising ID in Android's settings, and in the UK and EU withdraw consent at any time under Settings → Advert privacy choices. The privacy policy explains what Google receives and what it never does.

If you subscribe, cancel it separately

Deleting your account does not cancel a paid subscription. Google takes that payment, not us, so it carries on renewing until you stop it — and we cannot stop it for you.

Cancel it first, in the Play Store: Play Store → your profile picture → Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions → Gentle Steps → Cancel. You keep what you paid for until the date it would have renewed.

This is written here rather than left to be discovered because being charged for an app you deleted is exactly the kind of thing Gentle Steps exists not to do to people.

What is kept, and for how long

Nothing is retained after deletion, with one exception: routine server backups held by our hosting provider may contain a copy for up to 30 days before they expire on their normal cycle. Those backups are not accessible for ordinary use and are never used to restore a deleted account.

Deleting individual items instead

If you only want to remove particular tasks rather than your whole account, you can delete them yourself in the app — touch and hold any task and choose Delete. You do not need to contact us for that.
